About Marzo To
A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts,avant-garde artist Marzo To (陶馬素) wasn’t easy to categorize. His arts were at times somber,melancholic and mystical, and at times fun, playful and child-like. It would be best to just let Marzo’s life work, which we try to present here as completely as possible, to reveal the kind of artist that he was or wasn’t.

As a person Marzo was a true,free spirit. Gregarious, and an eternal optimist to the very end,Marzo remained true to the inner callings through which his arts emerged. Seasoned journalist Diana Lin quipped on Marzo: “He was an enigma to some, a rogue to others, a munificent rogue nonetheless.”

Not all of Marzo’s works are here.A great number were lost, stolen,sold or in custody somewhere no one knows. Of the work no longer available, we find photos of them and present them here, and they are annotated as such. Of the available works they are up for donation or sale depending on the purpose of ownership.
